HDD: 1 Tb sshd

CASE: Zalman z11 plus

CPU:AMD FX 8320 (OC 4.2Ghz the build is on hold as it arrived broken awaiting a replacement)

MOBO: ASUS M5A78L-M USB 3

Great build for the price, but do not overclock that CPU on that motherboard. It was not meant for running 125W chips overclocked. Not a great idea to run it with one at stock speeds in the first place tbh

Nice GPU choice, OP.

I like double D's. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

That motherboard isn't that great though, for that cpu. I personally would've got a low-mid range i5 build instead tbh, if it's just plain gaming you do.

Right but when Directx 12 comes out it will improve dramatically :)

And it'll be a while before major titles released start using it. You'll probably have enough cash for a new rig by then anyhow.

Well you say that but for some reason i put windows 10 tech preview on my laptop and its using directx 12 and it is performing better i used to get around 20-25 fps with gta 5 now i get 25-30 so it does give it a boost neither the less (i think they still let the processor talk directly to the gpu either way) btw thats using an i5 3230m and intel hd 4000 graphics

GTA V does not use DirectX 12. Maybe you got the boost because it was a fresh OS install? There are no DirectX 12 games available to buy as of yet.

But it does get a small Fps boost from it

Mainly down to having less shite installed, since it's a fresh OS install.

The max TDP of 140w the cpu should run perfectly fine but thanks for the info i still wont OC me thinks lol

It's using the same API. It uses either DirectX 10, 10.1 or 11. Depending upon what GPU you have installed. You will not gain a 25% performance boost for a game due to Windows 10.

If the game doesn't use dx12 it will just use an older version. So running a dx9 game would still be using dx9 and running a dx11 game would still use dx11. It just means it can use up to dx12.

That's what i thought but for some reason it does seem to have a higher Fps since i got Directx 12, i know how it works but i think that for some unknown reason it still uses the way that the CPU cores talk directly to the graphics card and/or using the cores more efficiently is all i am suggesting.

If a game is not written using the DirectX 12 API then you it simply does not run on that API.

The gains aren't from dx12. If you got an fps gain going to 10 it would be for some other reason. Maybe a newer driver, game update etc.

could be new drivers, but 100% not a new game update considering i installed it on windows 8 and during the update to windows 10 i got to keep my files although it could be a driver ether way the fx 8320 will do good and when directx 12 games do come along it will do even better :D

The FX chips are great value if you need multithreaded performance on a budget. I was tempted to get one for my server but ended up not getting one due to power consumption. Now I wish I did because it's almost winter and I want a heater.
