speedfan not working

Go to solution Solved by 0ld_Chicken,

i made a custom fan profile last night and now it doesnt work and my cpu fanspeed wont change AT ALL

Was it working and changing fan speeds last night? Have you changed the advanced settings for your mobo in advanced tab of options? Most are set to some different type and fansto be controlled changed to manual. Usually an option for pwm or dc as well.

Have you checked to see if you mobo is compatible? Sorry I'm mobile

What settings are you using?

What fans are you trying to control and what are they connected to?

cpu fan connected to cpu header

what settings specifically because there are A LOT

Exactly. List whatever you changed from default including any motherboard settings for the fans.

Make sure the Desired and Warning temps aren't too low or high in the Temperatures tab.

You have to click on one of them to change the Desired/Warning temps.

I did have it starting with windows after trial and error (mainly error) with task scheduler. pointing to speedfan.exe, running with highest privileges,  there should be some tutorials on it around somewhere.

I have not for the life of me been able to get it to start at a normal pace.  It always starts really really slow (10-15 seconds maybe) when the whole pc takes about 10 seconds to start.  during this time all the fans are at  100% and rather loud (except one which is always at 50% during this speedfan purgatory, another mystery to me)  I feel like I tried everything.

so I gave up, disabled the task in the scheduler and just click on the icon (as much as I hate to admit defeat)

Ill come back to it someday

thx, but do you know a way to make it run on startup of windows?
