I bought a Corsair H100i, but decided to return it as I also got a Corsair 550d and didn't want the top panel of the case opened because it defeated the purposed of the 550d's sound dampening design. I've got a few bucks to spend (less than $100) and I'm wondering what air cooler I should purchase. I was looking at single 120mm liquid coolers like the H80i but I've heard they are just as loud as a air coolers and just as good at cooling. I'm looking for something extremely quiet but also something that cools good because my i7 2600k runs at 4.6ghz and the 550d has restricted airflow. I've looked at the hyper 212 evo, but it is only $40 is there something better I can get and spend a bit more?

Look at Noctua or Phanteks - both awesome air cooling solutions...

He can't, because he returned the H100i because of size/location issues he needs either air or a 120 Rad cooler.

Here's a post I found on another forum that confirms that a Noctua NH-D14 will fit in a 550D. I think the Phanteks is slightly taller than the Noctua, but it's going to be a tight fit either way.

I think they're both great coolers, I'm planning on getting a Noctua when I do my rig upgrade in the next month or so.
