Some of the cards in the 200 series are rebadged cards from the 7000 series, but not all of them. The R9 285 is a new GPU that was never sold in the 7000 series. Performance-wise, it's very similar to a 7950, but it has 2GB VRAM instead of 3GB, and also draws less power.

i heard that r9 equal 7XXX cards but they are edited version

so which card equals r9 285 ?

 

hd 7970 or hd 7950 ?

kinda 20% better than hd 7950 and 1% worst than hd 7970 .. u can say it kinda equals hd 7970 .. well thats why i was wondering which card. but its clear now because of ur comment.

its not an edited card from the 7000 series. thanks

R9-285 is not a rebadged, it's from Tonga's Family base on GCN 1.2 which is AMD's latest GCN revision that fully support Freesync & VSR. 

 

It have the same amount of stream processor like the HD7950 a.k.a R9-280 but come with memory color compression and improved tessellation engine but with 256 bit memory bandwidth compare to 384bit on 7950 thus slightly lower TDP.
