So iv bought my 2nd gtx evga 970. The first one was a ssc 970 now when i got it in the mail the pcb was pushed thru the plastic witch turns made me think that was the damage and why it was faulty. And now that iv gone again against my gut  and bought another 970 ftw version it seems the same problems are happening. The first day of owning  my card is great runs everything fine in my surround set up 3 1080p monitors. I'm more a fps guy then graphic looks so i had 180 fps in gta 5 with low settings i was beyond happy. Then as the frist card did the next days follow and my gpu is just maxing out on nothing now iv check programs but heres the thing i can hear the audio having skips when videos play and i get those skips while i load up windows with the desktop sound as it starts up from a fresh reboot please i want to keep my 970 my old 760 cant handle my surround setup but it doesn't fail me like this ever can someone help me ?

I'm sorry but until there is proper punctuation to that whole wall of text (not a single full stop), I cannot continue reading it, sorry.

Man, i remember when everybody used to say this forum was really friendly, guess those days are over.

Anyways dude, what drivers are you running on your 970? are they the latest ones from Nvidia? you tried running previous drivers or beta drivers?

You can perform a clean driver install through geforce experience if you go under 'custom installation' that makes it quite easy.

Does it still do it when you turn the power target and temp target back down to default?

Your processes looks about normal, chrome always uses quite a bit aye! :D

Let me get this straight.

You had a GTX 970 that you thought it may be faulty due to damaged from deliver / shipping. The problem has been around since day one, yet you ignored it.

Now, you have decided to get another GTX 970, and run that in SLI with the first card, that may or may not be damaged.

Why?

I am trying to follow, but to be honest, it is quite difficult to determine what you are trying to explain.

At this stage, test one card at a time.

See if you have any problems by using one card at a time. If it is okay with the new card, then your first GTX 970 may very be faulty from the beginning.

Uninstall your current drivers (if they are old), and install the LATEST, stable version from NVidia's website. Do not use the drivers from the included CD.

i forgot to say i returned the first card and took my money back. And further more paid bills. And for a date the Ftw card for 970 wasn't out at the time of the first pruchests. Thus being why i stated i went against my gut on getting another.

Thank You for the help. But i cant not find anything in geforce experience that says custom installation as an option. How ever tho turning my temps down and target power do nothing. Changing my fan speed dose tick the speed a small amount but thats it .

Hmm...

What is the rest if your system specifications?

CPU?

Motherboard?

Power Supply?

etc..

  1. Make sure the card is properly installed into the PCI-E X16 slot.
  2. Ensure all PCI-E 6-pin / 8-pin power connections are securely connected.
  3. Check the output connections (DVI / HDMI / DisplayPort) on the back of the card. Make sure they are not loose.
  4. Give the "non GTA V" drivers a try (347.88).

welp i toss surround at it and boom maxing at while chrome is open.

its being picky. It drops and stays there as long as i don't pull more windows . Then if i do it max out at 1392 and hangs there for Awhile. then it randomly drops to 150mhz.

And then i thought id hit it with kombuster. And when i first got the card i tested it to make sure it was fine id get 140 fps with it in kombuster. Now im getting 80s.

Do you have a lot of add-ons / apps installed for Chrome?

But as you said before, just try Surround on some games for a few days, and see what happens -- with Chrome off (it's only for a few days).

Just like the last 970 when this start happening. Starting to think the 900 series for nviida is crap
