Hello guys,

I am planing to build a PC soon (within 3 weeks) and my budget is $2000 including peripherals ( mouse keyboard monitor headset iOS ). I live in Australia Melbourne so I was thinking to get my parts from pc case gear. So far I was thinking

Cpu: Intel core i7 4770k

Motheboard: Asus rog hero

Graphics: asus 770 atx

Case: cm storm stryker

CPU cooler: corsair h100i

Other than that I wasn't sure on the rest. I wasn't sure if I should get windows 8 or windows 7? Also I will over clock in future and might get dual 770 in future too if that helps.

Can some please help me?

Whatever you do, make sure you get an SSD, at least for your OS and programs, it will make your life at least 9001 times better.
I recommend the Samsung 840 Pro but the 840 non pro is great too if you don't want to spend too much.

Also, get a sound card. Any Asus Xonar that fits your budget will do

What are you going to do? For gaming alone you won't be needing the 4770k. Add either Samsung or Kingston SSD(s) or if you want to safe money a SanDisk WD or Seagate HDD is also nice to have if you don't have a NAS.

How much do you want to spend for your keyboard/mouse? Mechanical keyboard? Best thing would be going to a shop and looking at them in person and then asking us about certain models (or tell us some features you want to have). Better calculate 150-200$ here seeing that you want to go for an high end build.

Get a PSU around 650-750 watts if you want to go for SLI later on. Seasonic/Corsair are highly recommended. Spend as much as you want (not too much - I meant more for like modular vs non). Make sure it's a haswell certified one.

I am going to use it for gaming and video editing ( YouTube). Also I was thinking about spending $300 on mouse keyboard and monitor. The max I can spend is $2200 in total. Nothing over.

Well, I wouldn't cheap out on those three things. A bad mouse isn't only bad for your gaming experience but can actually damage your wrist (proper seating+ maybe a wrist rest against carpal tunnel - just to throw that in here :P).

A bad keyboard also hinders your gaming experience. And a bad monitor most of all.

Get something like the razer deathadder, maybe even an older version. They should be around 40-60$ and iirc there were actually some sales with it recently.

NCIX also has a nice sale with a G710+ (cherry mx brown)+ G700 for "only" 170$. If you don't specify anything about your keyboard we can't help you.

Backlighting? Macro keys? Media keys? Cherry MX? Tenkeyless? With a wrist rest?

Also, do you want to video edit often or once in a while. For once in a while you can save those 100$ for the 4770k.

Alright I won't cheap out on those items and yes I will be doing video editing often so that's why I went with a i7.

I kind of overdid it though. You don't need a 170$ mouse/keyboard combo. But a good monitor will already be 200-300 depending on size. I just meant to buy those three items with the mindset that you only have 300$ for them. It's better to wait a week and buy a better mouse that'll last longer.

Corsair Hydro Series H100i CPU Cooler $145

MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Motherboard $199

Corsair CMX8GX3M1A1333C9 8GB (1x8GB) DDR3 $79

Yeah, now is the point for him to say if he wants to stay on 1080p or might want to go higher in some time. Depending on that going for a 4GB 770 might also be an option.

Also, I recommend trying out a mechanical keyboard (in this case a cherry mx red one) before you spend 160$ on it. Mouse is personal choice. Depends on hand size and the way he holds the mouse.

Hero vs MSI board: they should both perform pretty well. They even have the same colour scheme. The RoG board comes with their new sound radar thingy. The MSI board also has nice on-board sound though.

And just a question: did you choose the case because of the build you found or because you actually like it?

Depending on future plans either throw in a SSD and get a second card later or don't and get a 780 imo.

In the future I might go higher instead of 1080p but when I do I will get another gpu ( 2 770). I actually really liked the cm storm stryker. For now I will stay with a 770 but put a ssd into the build as well. I might also stay with the rog hero.

Just make sure you buy the right keyboard/mouse for >yourself< not for >us<.

I just saw at amazon.com that the Gigabyte 770 4GB is 449$ and the 2GB is only 409$. If you want to go future-proof go for 4GB. Remember: in a SLI-config the lowest vram counts. This would still put you 30$ below the prices that @guyfromnebraska got for you. Probably even more if you check for some better prices. That should leave you at about 2000-2050$ probably (or even lower) depending on your keyboard/mouse choise. Then get a nice SSD and you should be good. And/or you could go for a different monitor. Maybe one with swivel/height adjustment or something along those lines. That's up to you. If your desk is high enough or you have something to put the monitor on or whatever how you place it - go with it.

Edit: I just noticed we didn't include a HDD.... You'll need one though if you don't have one/a NAS. Just look for your needs@Seagate/WD

I would personally try to squeeze in a 780.You don't need a CPU cooler like the H100i unless you want to overclock a lot.  I fair very well with my Hyper 212 EVO.

You could also try to get a cheaper case but that's your preference.

Alright I will downgrade my cooler as I realised I don't need a expenive cooler to get up to 4.4ghz. But I will keep my case as I love it.

You don't need an i7 for gaming or light editing. Everyone jumps on the i7 the instant they see video editng. An i5 will do pretty much just as well at a much lower price.

This is also cheaper ram: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=186_538_913&products_id=19791

Plus you haven't even included HDD, get WD black cavair and Samsung pro 840 SSD instead of getting 2 rams.

Rest everything looks good.
