The diference in performance is not a lot, and the price is, the 960 is better for the price

http://techreport.com/review/27702/nvidia-geforce-gtx-960-graphics-card-reviewed/4look at the benchmarks thats not a difference to scoff at

and the r9 290 is in your budget http://pcpartpicker.com/part/his-video-card-h290qmc4gd

also the 290x is available for $270 and beats out the 970 by a teensy bit

I got a CPU i5 4570 3.2ghz for 179dlls so i HAD to buy it, the problem is, now i want the best GPU i could get, i have a $240 budget, could you recommend the best GTX gpu, for double display, i was considering a gtx 960 because a friend of mine said that radeon cards tend to die quick, and should get a GTX

Heres the rest of the Build

I would get the sapphire R9 290 tri-x as it only costs $253 and has brilliant cooling.

I see no reason as to why you would want to go from a r9 280x to a gtx 960. It is a inferior card performance wise, and amd cards are no less stable than nvidia cards (did your friend have an amd card break on him, and now he just vows never to buy amd things?)

Nothing short of an R9 290/GTX 970 will be a noticeable upgrade over an R9 280 in gaming. If you absolutely have to have a GTX card, save $70 more and get a 970. Newegg has an EVGA GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0 for $310 after rebate and a Gigabyte Windforce GTX 970 (not the G1 Gaming) for $302 after rebate.

His dad works on a PC shop, and knows a lot of gaming PCs, and he told him, that the most common complain is from AMD cards breaking

So it doesn't matter if I choose R9 280. R9 280x or GTX 970, it will be the same on performance, and the only way up is a GTX 970?

For your processor GeForce GTX 970 (x2) GPU will perform better while compare to other GPU.

Looking at the spects of a single 970, it looks like the best option actually, thanks

Then ill go with a R9 290, but I have a problem with the brands, does it matter if is HIS, or gigabyte, sapphire, XFX?, that confuses me a lot (specially the prices)

MSI and XFX are the brands you want to go with if you plan to watercool

saphire makes the best cards

asus is a close second

gigabyte HIS and powercolor also make great cards but their customer support is non existant

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

I didn't get it yet, I saved 70dlls in the CPU, so instead of 280, i think i could get something better, thats all, instead of the 280 i will buy the 290

good choice just make sure you have a 550w or bigger psu

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

I forgot, edited now

PSU: EVGA 600B 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

I see ways to get you into a GTX 970.  You have a $20 Noctua fan, the Coolermaster Hyper 212 ($30), an 120/128GB SSD ($60).... not to mention you could save $10-$20 by getting a 4440/4460 instead of the 4570.

The GTX 970 would mean you could also save on the PSU as well:  http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-100w10500kr

CPU coolers, fans, SSD you can add in later without losing money.  Changing a GPU will almost always equate to lost money.

I got the 4570 for $179 instead of $204 so i couldnt resist buying it, also my budget is max $250 per piece, so that card goes beyond that, and i need all those cooling because i live in a hot hot city, and need a good airflow, even without overclocking, i have a total budget of $1500, but with a limit of $250 per ticket, so the SSD, and cooling are not an issue
