Hey so I've started using two monitors with my comp and I watch Netflix/Youtube/Twitch, etc while I work or play games on my main monitor. It works fine most of the time but certain tasks I do make the computer lock up and I often have to restart. A prime example is playing Total War: Attila and watching Twitch is just too much for my computer to handle.

Basically I'm wondering if running my main monitor off of my GPU and my secondary one off of the built-in Intel graphics will help or just make my computer run worse? I just tried plugging it in this way for now and it's working fine but when looking up to install the Intel graphics driver it said to make sure I don't download the driver if I'm using a dedicated GPU...should I just install the driver or is it a bad idea running two "graphics" at once?

Thanks

Yes, but only if your motherboard supports it. I'd give you the steps off my H87M-Pro but the computer isn't working atm.

Just by plugging in the HDMI of my secondary monitor to the Intel graphics, Windows grabbed a driver and has it running the extended desktop fine. I'm wondering if this actually frees up the GPU or will this actually make my PC run slower as now my CPU/Mobo/etc needs to focus on running two separate "GPUs" both the onboard and dedicated GPU?

Your computer won't run any slower.

I think you'll be fine, when you launch a game it will ask you wich graphics adapter you want to use, be sure to select your gpu
