The 5930k is the least needed CPU ever.

Not exactly it has 40 PCIE lanes compared to the 28 on the 5820K......so yes there is a difference it just depends if you need the extra lanes or not. Depending on workload a 5930k might be more appropriate

Well i would love to go 3 way sli 970, not sure if i'll need the 40 pcie, & also i've & h100i.

i'll only need cpu/mobo/ram.

i'll use it for Sony Vegas & gaming.

since I've 870$ don't think it will hurt to buy the 5930k

Also i can buy it @ micro-center.

I would say its split 50%/10%/40% for the amount people who buy each CPU in the i7 2011-v3 series.

5820K The least expensive x99 chip 6 cores and is good to run triple SLI and a m.2 drive at the same time.

5960X The most expensive consumer chip 8 cores runs quad SLI with lanes to spare.

If most people need the extra pci lanes they go for the with the extra power as well that the 5960X has. The 5930K is the middle man that almost everyone looks at and says "If i am going to upgrade from the 5820K why not go all the way with a 5960X for the extra cores".
