my current seup is 16gb ram, a 295x2 and 4670k @4.4ghz. running at 3840x2160.   Looking to free my pc from bottlenecks in cpu intensive game  like arma  or cmbn. any ideas ? basically i want to get the most insane cpu possible,  the emphasis on single core performance. Is there anything truly breath taking out there?

Haswell already has the highest IPC performance, only way you're getting more is by overclocking.

Get an unlocked Skylake chip when it comes out.

SkyLake .. What if they suck lol, From what I've read they are gonna marketed toward lower end CPUs, I wish they would of came up with a better name to. "SkyLake" sounds like it's suppose to be in a console lol

This is pretty much what I was expecting so far. Thanks for the posts peoples. I think DX12 might be what makes my day in this if it really frees up CPU overhead like is claimed. Arma 3 is the main culprit here that I want to conquer. At 1440p I was getting about 65-70fps average, and at 4k I get 55 or so. Same setup otherwise, in the infantry showcase. The issue is that that benchmark doesnt take into account draw distance and more AI. more than 4 squads and long view distances can make things drop rather dramatically. So I was trying to see if there was some god CPU out there that could fix my problem anyhow. Hopefully DX12 does wonders.......so tired of these odd game limitations.

Sidenote: my overclock is recent, and I honesntly cant tell the different between 3.8 stock and 4.4ghz.......running at 4.4 1.25 volts. Temps never exceed 65C.
