As long as the sockets match they are compatible. So any 1150 processor will be compatible with any 1150 MoBo. But some old chipsets like z87(has 1150 socket) will

still require a BIOS update so I suggest going for a z97 or h97 chipset. The h97 would be better since you won't be needing the high OC capabilities of the z97

This is the techquickie on chipsets. It should help you understand better.

This processor will work perfectly fine with a Z97 board, however it has no unlocked multiplier, so you can't use the "Z" features. You can save money by getting an H97 board instead.
