Hello everyone,

I'm planning to build a new computer at the end of the summer to upgrade my actual rig to be ready for 1440p

Currently owning :
i7-3770k 4,2Ghz ( Cooler : 412-S)

Z77-MPOWER

770 Lightning

8gb ( 2x4) 1600Mhz

630 Bronze power supply from bequiet

1TB WD Blue

Fractal ARC MIDI R2

monitor : XL2411 ( 1080p 144Hz)

So first, is there anything I should keep ? I was thinking giving what i dont keep to my parents to upgrade their old pc

I was thinking about buying this : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/kR8qJx

Would it be enough to game at 1440p 60 FPS at High-Ultra settings for the next 3 years?

I live in France and my budget is around 2500€ max

Thanks

That's quite a while from now. I'd suggest planning later. ~2-3 days at most before you buy. Parts and prices change frequently so any parts list you come up with now will likely be obsolete by the time you're ready to buy.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

Keep the CPU, our 3770k's are VERY powerful, I argue that they have more overclocking than haswell 'thus usually having a higher 24/7 overclock delivering more performance. get a new gpu and you are set.

PEWDIEPIE DONT CROSS THAT BRIDGE

The link u mentioned have the right parts, i would like to ask are you gonna sell your current build, if so, u should consider gtx 980 over 970 cause u want ultra settings at 1440p with 60fps

U can get high settings at 1440p with 60fps on 970

But ultra settings with 60fps on 1440p for 3 years, i doubt 970 will handle

Well I was planning to give the CPU+motherboard/RAM/PSU to my parents to upgrade their computer and probably sell the GPU and the CPU cooler to a friend ( by the way how much is Worth a 770 lightning ( with backplate)

I will probably keep the HDD and still debating if I should keep the actual case or go for the define R5 ( my desk is in my kitchen and my air remover [ Dont know how you call it] is pretty loud] so ... )

But if I keep the cpu and motherboard I can definitely buy a 980 ;) ( can even afford a Titan X ... but it's overkill ... Right ? )

  • 2 weeks later...

- that 970 upgrade from a 770 will be light... like 15% upgrade, just so you know

- a cpu upgrade wont change a single thing

I suggest you get a gsync monitor instead. That will feel like 90% video performance upgrade.

And give the static 144hz to your parents - they`ll appreciate the eye comfort of it much more than any internal hardware.

And get an SSD, put everything, but the download folder on it. That will feel like a 900% upgrade.
