is it worth buying a shield tablet right now i believe theirs a new portable coming soon?

Nothing about a new Portable has been announced.

A new portable with the integrated controller is rumoured for this year. But we don't know for sure. The shield tablet is a great tablet but if you are getting it for gaming on the go then the portable is much better.

I actually have the shield tablet for quite a while now, around 6 months maybe... Its a fantastic tablet overall only issue for me is battery life (which I must say, they did a good job improving it with their constant updates).. If you plan on 'playing on the go' prepare yourself for constant battery charging. If not and you just want it for everyday use, like web browsing, reading, studying, casual gaming, etc, then I'd say it's a great bang for the buck. For me the stylus pen is a great upside as well :D
