I bought a new WD 1TB blue drive.  After installing it, I turned on my computer, Windows booted up and saw the drive and installed the drivers successfully.  I then go to My Computer to access the drive and the drive is not listed... So I check device manager and sure enough it is there and recognized, so I reboot the system and check my BIOS and the drive is recognized there as well.   This is just going to be an extra storage drive, and shouldn't be hard to install like this. Using Windows 7 x64

What the hell is going on?  @.@

Have you initialized the disk in Disk Management yet?

Thank you so much, you guys are awesome!  This new drive is the first new storage drive I have had in about 10 years, so I have not had to initialize a new drive and format it in Win 7 yet.  Win XP was the last time I formatted a storage drive; Had no clue about "Disk Management" either. That old 80gig drive that this new one is replacing is SO old and STILL working....crazy

Thanks again ^^

Hey Falcon81,

Each new drive needs to be initialized first and the unallocated space needs to be partitioned, formatted and assigned a drive letter. :) You can perform everything from Disk Management as well as many other things. If you are even unsure if the drive works properly, simply run WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool and it should tell you if the drive's health is good or bad. :) Here's a link: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=fPGnOg
