OK so I know this category is not about thermal compounds, but this is the best topic to put it under. My question is what is the best thermal compound out there? Also will it make that big of a difference in temperature? Also in the comments, compare the best compound to other ones in temp differences.

Proven & reliable = Arctic Silver 5

Currently most favored by pc builders = Arctic Cooling MX4

I stuck with my Noctua cooler's paste that came with it - Noctua NT-H1, and it performs well.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Arguing with religious people is like explaining to your mother that online games can't be paused...

best is probably some metal compound,

best practical compound is MX-4, AS-5 is also pretty popular. I prefer MX-4 but there are loads of good thermal compounds, and as long as it's applied properly, there shouldn't be a significant difference, in the realm of a degree or two.

Whatever comes with your cooler because the differences are so minimal that, unless you're using chocolate for TIM or no TIM at all, it's basically irrelevant. If your cooler doesn't come with any, then I'd consider something non-conductive that doesn't take forever to "cure."
