1440p gpu

Hi everyone,

I currently have a 970. I am thinking about buying the Acer XB270HU, and also another 970. Is it worth getting another 970 or selling my current 970 for something else? I'm concerned about the 3.5 gb of usable vram, and will I run over 3.5gb at ultra 1440p games?

I've had 1440p for about a year now and I've only ran into going over 3.5gb like 2 times, once at 5120/2880 DSR in crysis 3, and that DLC pack for shadows of mordor.

 

IMHO 3gb is even still plenty, I'm running a 780 TI right now and haven't had any issues yet, I don't play crysis 3 or shadow of mordor so I don't really mind.  Don't have GTA 5 yet either, maybe that would use more.

Your fine sticking with another 970 for 1440p. Not that many games use over 3.5Gbs of vram.

You should be fine for most games if you turn the graphics down a bit with 1440p you'll reach 60fps if your 970 is OC. If not you can try to get the gtx 980 OC can run anything at ultra 1440p...except AC Unity and Witcher 3.
