I'm building a budget gaming PC for a friend. He is looking for a case as cheap as possible, but not an absolute piece of shit. His budget is very strict so he prefers under $40. He does not have a preference in what it looks like, he just wants it to perform and do the job. I've looked at a few so far. I just want to see what the community has to say about them. Here are the links for those:

Thanks

Forgot about that actually. When we looked, the Source 210 was actually out of stock on a lot of sites so that is why I didn't include that. That was almost a week ago, however. I'll most likely use it because it beats out all of the other cases I've found.

Fractal Core 1000 or NZXT Source 210. Also the Cooler Master N400, but it's a bit more expensive, and smaller, than the others.

I've been using one for a little over a year. It's pretty great for a $40 case.

I am planning on upgrading to an NZXT S340 sometime soon though. Just because the Source 210 doesn't have mounts for 2.5" drives (something you should consider if you're going to be using an SSD), and while the cable management is really good, it's not as good as the S340. Not to mention, the S340 is just sexy... but it's $70.

Still, for $40, you really can't go wrong on the 210. Just make sure you have a bracket for an SSD... or some velcro. :P

I don't think he is going to be using an SSD any time soon. If I really wanted I can just ghetto a screw from an HTPC to hold the ssd into place.

Not necessarily--One man's garbage is another man's treasure.

The Cougar mg100 is an exceltent case in that range. It costs about 30-40 dollars, plus it is a solid steel case WITH USB 3.0!!!

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/cougar-case-mg100worth looking at, it gets really high reveiws from many people.

It's a decent case not much different from the Spike.

The N200 would be better if you don't mind stretching a bit: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/cooler-master-case-nse200kkn1
