I have wireless a40s and was wondering what would be a good upgrade from them I'm looking for headphones plus a sound card, I will mainly use the headset for gaming, My budget would be around £200-£300 for the headphones + soundcard

I'd recommend HD 600s with a ModMic (if you need it) and something like the Fiio E11/E17, though there are other options in terms of DACs and amps such as the AudioEngine D1.

For both the soundcard and headphones sadly that would be over my budget is there any cheaper option that would still make a considerable difference when gaming over A40s also i would prefer an internal sound card just so i don't have to have it on my desk

thanks I don't really know much about soundcards, all I know is that Linus says whatever your price range get a xonar but i don't want to buy a really high end one that wont benefit the headset I get

modmic, with either audiotechnica ad700's or sennheiser 558's.

I use a USB dac similar to a fiio e10 for output and onboard for mic input.

Will work for electronic components and parts

thanks think I'm going to get the hd 558s and do the foam mod apparently then they're like hd 598s I'm also going to get a blue snowball at some point but I think I'll get a mod mic for convenience too, is there any internal sound card you would recommend that wont hold the headset back quality wise or vise versa

Your on board audio might be fine.

Is there too much static? Is it too quite? If you answered "No" then you don't need a soundcard. *jazzhands*

If not, a Xonar DG is just about the cheapest thing out there worth recommending.

hd598's are pretty efficient, I doubt you'd need anything.

The difference you'll notice most will be between the speakers rather than the source. You can use the HD598 with the mixamp if you want.
