Worth the upgrade?

Currently I have a i7 3770, I mainly do rendering and vfx work. I do game at times but that is not the focus of my system. I was thinking of getting a new i5, not sure if the IPC has risen enough to make the i5 better than my i7. If not I will have to wait till I can afford a better cpu.

Don't get it, the i7 and its hyperthreading would still destroy a current gen i5.
