So, recently building my pc, I've decided to overclock it -

Specs : Pentium G3258 / Noctua NH-D14 / 8GB Corsair Vengeance Ram / 1tb WD Blue / ADATA 120GB SSD / Asus Z97-K / Gigabyte R9 280X / Fractal Design R4 / 500W Corsair PSU

Now, I want to get the most power out of the Pentium as I can, with keeping a stable 60ish Degrees on gaming temperature.

Can you please recommend what the highest I should go to the Pentium, Without going too hot (60ish Max) As i don't want a Melt down.

Thanks Alot!

you can go as high as you like, your going to struggle to reach the safe max temp of 80c with that cooler. :)

Eh. Just OC it and then check your temperatures.

Is it bellow 60*C? OC it higher!

Is it above 60*C? Then down with OC a bit!

Also CPU cooler as expensive as the CPU it self? Or was it for lols?

EDIT:

As @Jumper118 said, why only 60*C? You can safely go to mid 70-80 and there will be no problem with it.

I guess your right, The Pentum Is around £53 and the cooler is £66, But I wasn't too sure about the heat on it that's all.

lol. most people overclock it to 4.2-4.6ghz on the stock cooler.

Yep. Even with the older Pentium's and Core 2's people hit those speeds with the stock cooler.

I have just overclocked my i5 4690K (4.7Ghz second fastest on LTT)

First: You don't have much headroom with the 60c max temp. 80 is my max and that is the sweat spot.

Second: how to oc:

1 Go up by 0.1Ghz

2 Boot and run a stress test (OCCT)

3 If booting fails increase the voltage by 0.025v and try again. (1.300v max or your CPU might get hurt)

stop overclocking if you hit 1.300v or 80c

with this you hopefully reach about 4.7 Ghz on it

That's fair enough, 4.8Ghz with the Noctua Cooler should be good enough for  me then :D

well that will depend on how good your chip is, some won't do 4.8ghz on a sensible voltage

I have been thinking over it all day and have decided to go for 4.4 Once everything has been delivered.

what? you can't just decide what speed you want. you need to see what the chip can do first. it could be a 5ghz on 1.2v chip or it could be 4ghz on 1.3v you just don't know.
