pulling from rockstar's website:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs) / AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs) @ 2.5GHz

so i'm guessing any quad core on a decent clock speed is good.

I'd go the best intel quad core you can justify getting simple as that.

Also, Minumum requirements dont mean smooth 60 fps it means that it can run like 10 fps

what is the cheapest Cpu my friend can get to run gta v . is it possible to run it on 2 cores ?? .. any amd options

Should be hyper-threaded, people say that running it in dual cores CPU, the game can't be run but with hyper-threading it can.

we thought about the i5-4440 .. and it would be great if we could find a cheaper quad core cpu .. any suggestions ?

amd option is an fx8350 but it would be more expensive to get another cpu and motherboard, if they have a intel boardset go for that 4400

not everyone dares about 60fps some people just want it to be playable with no noticeable from lag 16 FPS is just find for those people

Save up the money and get that cpu. Going cheap is not always the best route.

Sure, like said before, a Q6600 overclocked to over 3 GHz with good cooling, they run like 50$ these days, maybe some Q9xxx as well, a Xeon mod as well like X5450. AMD quad core chips as well, preferably Phenom II X4, agaqin with very decent cooling, like a CM 212.

xeon E3-1220V3

if you want a good quad core without an IGPU then get this if you arent going to over clock.

the athalon x4 860k and the fx 4300is a good hard working quad core that makes a living with manual labor. its a good cpu if a little on the week side.

it shouldnt bottle neck too badly lower gpus like the r9 280 and lower.

if you want an upgrade path then pentium g
