Is this "safe"

Go to solution Solved by Captain_WD,

Would it be safe to put my hard drive sled into my 5 1/4" Bay and hold it down with like double sided tape? Would their be a high potential for Data loss/ hard drive damage?

Or should I get something like this?

Hey niofalpha,

As the guys suggested, it would be a better option to get the mounting kit. It should help you reduce the noise, vibrations and possibly hold the drive still better and reduce any wear or errors that might occur if you accidentally shake the case. Tape would work, but it won't be as safe as the mounting kit. It might also accumilate static electricity or contribute to heat accumulation (depends on the tape).

It would be good, quite the ghetto approach, but good nevertheless.

HDD's do not have much linear velocity while spinning, so even when not held down by anything, they still keep reletively still.
