PCIe Cable questions

Go to solution Solved by SkywardKkalox,

Nah it's safe. You could even use the molex to pcie adaptors that came with the GPU. 2-way SLI 970s without overclocks are going to be using ~500w.

Hi I just have a few questions I've encountered with my power supply and my graphics cards. I have a Corsair cx600m power supply, an Asus gtx970 strix, and a reference 970 I want to use in SLI. The issue is that the Asus card has an 8 pin power connector, while the reference card has a 12 pin. Can I connect an additional PCIe power cable to my power supply in order to power the reference card and the Asus card together or is that unsafe for the power supply?

Welcome to the Forums!

As for the 12 pin it's dual 6 pin on the reference design, for Asus they used a single 8 pin to deliver the power to their cards. As for hooking it up your cable bag should have the necessary 6+2pin for the GPU with no problems.
