Hey all,

My PC was having some bugs, so I decided to do a clean install of Windows 7, using the disc that came with my Alienware Aurora. I boot my PC from the CD and the Windows 7 Installer begins to launch. When I press "Install on this computer," an error message appears shortly after and says "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing" or something along those lines; and the only options at the bottom are Browse and Rescan. Therefore, my computer is pretty much useless at this point. How do I get past this step so I can format my drives and reinstall Windows 7?

I've tried setting BIOS boot mode to Legacy instead of UEFI, but that made no difference.  I've also tried installing from a Flash Drive, but it doesn't detect any of my drives when it gets to the screen where I have the option to format or delete drives.

I'm desperate at this point, so any help would be appreciated.

odd, i thought the auroras were pretty reliable machines.

could you give the -exact- error?

to make sure, you're using the disk on your alienware aurora right?

The error shown at the beginning of this video is my problem when I use the CD.  Though the solution in the vid didn't help me.  When I use a USB Flash Drive (with Windows 7 on it), my hard drive just isn't there so I can't format or delete anything.

the resource disk will have drivers, rather out of date ones, but they should get you going. Better of finding up to date motherboard drivers on the MB manufacturer website.

Maybe use a linux usb drive to format the HDD before trying the install ?
