When I was building my rig, I bought a TP-LINK TL-WN881ND which is capable of delivering 300mpbs even though my internet package only offers 152mpbs so I thought I could achieve good/ near to speeds of my internet and according to Amazon reviews, This works perfectly with "Virgin Media super hub" (The ISP provided router) even though the wifi card is only on the 2.4ghz network (something I realised after I had bought the item). My current speed test indicates I am achieving 58 Mbps down meaning obviously I am missing out the remaining 94 Mbps (152 Total). My WiFi router has two signals it works on, the 5 ghz which gives me full speed and the 2.4 which is limited. I need to look at replacing the PCI card, now I could get an AC capable version to achieve full speeds or I could buy a powerline adapter, specifically the netgear variants.

Which one looks like a viable solution?

Depends on a lot of things, your home electrical setup, distance from your router, the way your house is constructed. Both are viable solutions but power line is probably faster overall.
