I have been experiencing a lot of issues recently with internet connection to my PC. Is is connected by ethernet through powerline. Every other device in my house has a stable connection but my PCs connection drops off every few seconds. ( It took me a good few minutes just to get to the forums.) The weird thing is its only with my PC. There is another PC connected via powerline and it is fine. I took it off and replace the cables/powerline adapters and no change. All wireless devices are fine. So i'm not really sure what's going on. I can't be my internet wire because all my other devices are getting a stable connection. All my drivers are up to date and i have tried replacing all equipment needed. I have also tried the command on cmd: ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew. I could really use some help from the forums right now...

Are either powerline adapters plugged into the same area as something such as a microwave, refrigerator, clothes drier, etc..?

No. They are just plugged into the socket near my PC and a socket beside the router.

swap out the powerline adapters from your pc, and the other one, to see if its the powerline adapters, or the location they're plugged into.

powerlines arent relaible at all, depending on where they're plugged into.

Then it could be an ethernet cable or the wiring of your home :/

i'm placing my bets on you having bad luck with the wiring in your house, and the powerline adapters not playing nice with them.

Most likely. I will go and test the powerlines in other areas of the house and see if it is a wiring issue. I will get back to you.

Have you checked the cable for breaks or if something is resting on it or if it is properly inserted in the sockets?

Try these two cmd lines in administrator level....

  1. ipconfig /flushdns - flushes the DNS
  2. netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt - When you run the reset command, it rewrites two registry keys that are used by TCP/IP. This has the same result as removing and reinstalling the protocol. The reset command rewrites the following two registry keys:
    SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\
    SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DHCP\Parameters\

With the second one you should restart your PC.

Tried both of these and restarted. No difference. Internet still dropping off and cutting out every few seconds.

Maybe the problem is at the router although it wouldn't explain how the other PC is fine. Try rebooting the router anyway. I would also run the troubleshoot in the network and sharing center and see what information you get back.

Rebooted the router and ran the troubleshoot in the netowkr and sharing center. No luck :(

Can you try the connection that works for the other PC and see if you have the same problem? You need to assess if it is the connection you are currently connected to or your PC or possibly a faulty patch cable.

I have partially fixed the problem. I had it plugged into and adapter so there was a lot of electrical interferance for the data. So i plugged it into a socket by its self and it solved it.

Then it is safe to say that the connection you were/are connected to has a fault because the other PC works fine at the other connection. I would advise calling the ISP provider to properly assess it.

Glad you are up and running though.
