First Build, Needs Opinions

Go to solution Solved by BelowAverage,

I changed quite a few parts based on recommendations from you guys, version 2.1 is live at http://pcpartpicker.com/user/jakey224/saved/#view=GYcj4D

Thanks so much for the information.

To start, this is my first thread, and I'm new here.

I am planning to build a budget PC and need some opinions on my choices.

Budget (USD): about $500, but willing to pay more when necessary. (This budget includes the OS)

Monitors: Two monitors, extended desktop

Peripherals: Logitech Wireless combo, USB Microphone, USB Camera, Bluetooth Headphones, etc.

Preferences: I need the LAN card (don't ask), and would prefer to stay on the cheaper AMD GPUs/CPUs

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/jakey224/saved/#view=GYcj4D

This includes a 1.25 TB HDD, not mentioned on the link.

Thanks! Help would be appreciated  ;)

I would suggest ditching the SSD for a more powerful GPU.

I would suggest ditching the SSD for a more powerful GPU. Also, get an NZXT Source 210. If you're on a budget then don't get an expensive case.

Fixed the HDD part. I already have one.

The case you suggested costs more than my current one.

Would it be better to get a hybrid drive? I'm willing to pay for some more storage speed. That's why I had an SSD there.

Well then I wouldn't suggest getting an SSD since you're on a tight budget. With that  $50 you can get a GTX 750ti.

Yuck . That CPU and GPU is horrible. Here is a better build http://pcpartpicker.com/user/danielfr789/saved/#view=ZvYtt6

Edit: Just changed the case and found a better deal on the same GPU. Almost exactly $500 now.

I see that you have a PCI wired and wireless adapter included. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but If you plan to just used wired then connect through your motherboard and ditch both adapters which you can put toward a better GPU (Which definitly needs to be better). If you need to use wireless, well then you can save yourself the 8 bucks by getting rid of the wired adapter.

  • The Athlon 860k is cheaper than the 760k on OutletPC (http://pcpartpicker.com/part/amd-cpu-ad860kxbjabox) and you'll get better performance out of the box.
  • Alternatively, drop the FM2+ board for the FM2 board to save money because an Athlon 760k doesn't need the new socket.
  • If you're gaming, get at least an R7 260x 2gb or 750 ti, as they have far better value for the money.
  • http://pcpartpicker.com/part/team-memory-ted38g1600c1101This memory is a little cheaper, shave off some of the cost :P
  • Get an i3 and a cheap lga 1150 build, @Agazed has an awesome build recommendation for the price, holy hell :D

 junker build in the making

Already switched to an 860k and an R7 260x 1gb.

I am reviewing the suggested build.

That build is quite good :P

Read the OP.

Oh, I missed that. Even so, it's a rare occasion where you would need both wired and wireless in a desktop. But, moving on, 1gb of Video Card ram is weak. Get at least 2.

I though about it for a while, and decided to dump the WiFi, and just throw in a Bluetooth dongle in my "tools" category.

PCPP link updated.
