Blu Ray Player help

Hi. i just bought a LG 16x internal blu ray player for my pc and knowing me i thought i would just be able to watch movies without hassle. i was wrong. i just need help on trying to figure out this software stuff with vlc to get it to play blu rays but i cant succeed at this and need help fast.

According to this article, the only way to let VLC play them is by first ripping the disc. Blu-ray is a Sony proprietary thing, so they don't often let 3rd parties tamper with their tech. You'll probably have to go with some kind of blu-ray specific software.

 

EDIT: Did the drive come with some kind of software disc?

yes i came with CyberLink software but it doesnt work so i had to try something else and all of my friends use VLC and they dont know why its not working with the blu ray but i was wondering if there is something out there that will work and is free

What do you mean "isn't working"? Did you have an issue installing, authenticating, etc?

VLC won't play blu-ray discs it doesn't have any codecs for it nor are any available. You need something like cyberlink or another software that can play blu ray. I would contact cyberlink and get that worked out because you won't get it working with VLC.

Yeah, that'll be something with CyberLink. Email a rep or try some troubleshooting on their website.

Powerdvd 13 wasnt working so had to find another player and got Mac Blu-ray Player for windows to be able to play the disk and works just fine
