OS Transfer

Go to solution Solved by Redsun20,

My laptop HDD is failing and i got a new desktop but it runs XP sp 3 9i believe) can i take the os -windows vista 32- off of the laptop for the desktop -Dell laptop-

Yes you can, but I really reccomend you don't keep using vista. It is crap. Regardless, go to control panel, select system and manatinence, then click backup and restore. Then, in the left pane, click create system image. Put the image on an external hard drive. Then, when promped, create a system repair disc. Go to the desktop, put the repair disk in, boot to it with your external drive attached, and select your image. It will then preceed to install vista on your HDD. I did this to make sure vitsa does not crash when you put the old OS on a different computer.
