could you help me to pick a keyboard?

looney
Go to solution Solved by DDR3RAMpager,

I would go g710+ , great software and I love the o rings. Makes bottoming out the keys quiter. Also, having several banks of macros is so useful for Adobe applications and other stuff. When I program I set them to type common phrases.

hey guys,

I'm looking for a new keyboard, at the moment I have a G15 but I would like to go mechanical, though I don't know which switch or board is best for me.

I will mainly use it for normal typing (Text and code) but I also game occasionally (FPS).

Keywise:

I don't want them to be to loud, but I do want tactile feedback, and not to heavy typing as i type a lot.

(would that be browns??)

boardwise:

It needs to have macro support with good software.

It needs to have a numpad.

It needs to have simple media keys (volume stop play next prec mute)

And it needs to be back-lit .

Budget is roughly 150 EURO (200 dollar)

Have you ever thought of buying a test kit from WASD keyboards: http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/review/product/list/id/7185/category/19/

This way you can try out all the switches and see what is best for you without burning a big hole in your pocket.

I would recommend the Corsair K70 or K95. They both will be available in blues and browns soon from what I've heard.

I would suggest Cherry MX Reds or Cherry MX Browns.

If you want to go with reds, they are the most like Membrane go with the Corsair K90. if you want browns go with the Gigabyte Aiva Osmium.

thank you for your input, the K95 was already on my list, I'll look up the Gigabyte one right away :)

Thanks guy, I would say the brown fits my needs the most, and I have always like Logitech.

It will probably either be the G710+ or the K95.

(leaning towards G710+ because I never had problems with Logitech)

I've just bought the Ducky Shine 2 PRO yesterday, and i really have to get used to the brown switches instead of the red switches i'm used to (Corsair K90).

I'm starting to like it better by the hour but i'm still getting used to it.

So far i'll say that the brown switches are really nice to type on and rarely make any typos.

For gaming i think i like them better than the reds. Don't ask me why but i think i like the fact that i can feel when i've actually pressed the key.

Also the build quality of the Ducky shine 2 is amazing. You cannot bend it in any way, and it doesn't feel cheap.
