Hello fellow Techfans,

My father asked me to build him a computer. His budget is around the 500$ and it is mainly for web surfing, online banking. And some gaming like AoE so not too heavy games. It would be nice if i could play games like CS: GO and H1Z1 on it but its not a must. The build i had in mind:

AMD A8-5600K Black edition

MSI A78M-E45

WD CAVIAR BLUE 1TB

FRACTAL DESIGN DEFINE MINI

ASUS USB-N53 WiFi

NOCTUA NH-U9B SE2

CRUCIAL BALLISTIX 8GB 2X4

SAMSUNG SH-224DB Optical Drive

CORSAIR CX430 V2 Power supply

ADATA Premier Pro SP900 128GB

I would appreciate if you guys could give me some feedback, if i need replace things.

Thank You!

Don't buy a GTX 980, it's overpriced! Buy 2 GTX 970s or 2 R9 290s intstead (the R9 290s would even be cheaper)

Wow, that's crazy.

My dad does all the same stuff, especially AoE, and he's going to get my 5600k + MSI motherboard pretty soon...

I can't say much for the GPU, but CPU wise I'd say it's pretty decent.

It looks like a good build, but I'd skimp on maybe the SSD and noctua cooler, and get an 860k and a dedicated GPU (260x...?)

Also @GabentheGreat this isn't a gaming computer, more of an office PC, so I'm sure he'd like to keep some luxuries..

This is what I recommend. The i5 to make it last quite a while before getting slow, 8GB RAM for the same reason, GPU can handle CS:GO very well (IDK about them other games) and it's great for the money, SSD because that amount should be able to fit all you need for a while if you don't store a lot of videos or pictures on it and you can add a HDD later or use an old one you have.

I don't know much about amd's apus, but I have high doubts that it can run cs:go even on lower settings. For your dad's usage it's fine (he doesn't need 8 gigs of ram though).

Yea, the 5600k could run CS:GO on high settings easily.

anyways, @colligo2 http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ssc3kL

If you want it $500 on the dot, you could ditch the Noctua cooler, but it would make the system a bit louder (assuming you'd want quiet for more of an office oriented PC)

Intel CPUs even though the 1 i mentioned is only dual core it has alot more performance per core over amd which is why amd right now sucks for cpus inless your doing a budget build. but with thoes 2 cores you should be able to play games with much higher fps then with a amd cpu for a 500$ build.

Alright thanks for the information. I would take it into consideration.
