idk if this goes here, so yeah.

When someone needs to restore a backup to their computer from the server how does/do you do it? Does it restore everything like the system restore on every computer?

To perform a Client Backup Restore to a PC, you need to use the "Client Restore Disc". You'll need the physical disc, or you can use an ISO to make a bootable USB stick.

Then you boot from the CD/USB and it auto detects drivers (you can put drivers in a folder on the USB stick for extra compatibility if needed). The Restore Client then communicates with your WHS2011 Server. You then select the right PC from the list, and choose your desired backup date (You will be able to restore any backup from the list of backups available - usually 5-6 backups available depending on your initial backup settings for that particular PC).

Then it will reload windows, drivers, programs, files, etc. It's a full, complete restore of your computer, just as if you "cloned" your HDD to another drive.

It is NOT like "System Restore" that is built into Windows. System Restore only attempts to rollback certain settings, and is very limited. WHS2011 Backup is a full, drive/file backup.

What do you mean "Client restore disc"? Can you be more specific?

If you bought WHS2011 as a physical set, then the Client Restore Disc would have come in the packaging as a physical disc. If you're using a Digital Only version, then refer to the instructions in my 2nd link: http://www.wegotserved.com/2012/03/29/windows-home-server-2011-step-step-part-10-restoring-files-folders-pcs/

In here, it shows that you can use the WHS 2011 Dashboard to create a client restore CD or a client restore USB. You'll need either a blank CD, or an empty USB stick (Note, the USB stick WILL be formatted).
