So I am doing a college project and it's kind of free options but I want to relate it to PCs as they are my passion.

I think I will do a starter kit, like a PC Building for Dummies kind of thing.

Can people help me with a good starter build and what kind of things I could talk about, what order you build in, how precise I should go etc.

The reason i'm asking is most of you guys are smart as hell while I don't do this kind of thing :3

Thank you so much in advance <3

Get the cheapest parts possible and explain all of them and their function. Get a cheap ATX and explain the various connectors, SB, NB, PCI, I/O and so on.

Kind of building PCs for dummies so I was thinking of doing a powerpoint and just showing what each part is good for and then how to build it etc

I don't need to do a practical, I think I will just do a powerpoint with a parts list.

Certainly seems like a somewhat interesting topic for a College presentation :P I'd personally find it as an excuse to build a computer (on someone else's creditcard obviously). I think you should just talk about 'standards' and how modular everything is (rather than soldered on PCBs in Laptops etc) and the price difference/markup from DIY to Prebuilt.

On a tangent though, NI isn't exactly the nicest place to be though :P

Maybe include some benchmarks and show xbox fanboys how well it will perform :)

Idk if I should get in to gaming considering only like 3 people in my class game and not very much either

Damn you have to internet real hard for that, I have a book, maybe I can send you the pics (not explain about i3, i5, FX and stuff but the basics like input, output, etc.) at least to give you more information (I hope). For further information like Hyper-Threading and such you can check directly to the company's websites. You know, start with the basic then going to the "more advanced" part to avoid confusion to the audience.
