gta5 high cpu load causing high temps

Go to solution Solved by L A,

Cpu load at around 80 to 90. And my temps are reaching 65 to 70. I play on ultra w/ 2x msaa.

gtx 970 oc'd

8gb

i5 4690k not oc, using stock fan.

Right, so to me anything below 80c is fine. TJ Max is just a set threshold in which if it is crossed, your CPU will start flagging that it's, well, hot. But it doesn't mean that your CPU will shutdown immediately--it will throttle itself first. I've ran my 4670k for 8 hours with an average temp of 80-83c. It was fine, it didn't throttle.

Tl;dr, you're okay man :D

70 is fine, anywhere below 75c or so is safe.

I'd suggest getting a different cooler if the stock cooler is not providing enough cooling power. (I've got the stock cooler on my i5 4690K and have it oc'd to 3.9GHz :P)

But intel page mentions tj max is 72 .....

If your temps stay around 70 it will be fine. To help keep it cooler dust out your case if you need too. Lower your room temperature. Or buy an aftermarket cooler. Personally I use the CM Hyper 212 evo my temps never go above 55C while gaming. It cost around $30.
