Windows 7 x64 first OS full retail install

Everything is about a month old including the OS installation, except the Graphics card which is about 4 months old, and bought second hand.

Note: I only switched to the EVGA after the problem had occurred as I thought the power supply could be at fault. Old PSU was a 600W Aerocool, an Australian Company.

  • CPU
    Intel® Pentium® Processor G3258
  • Motherboard
    MSI B85 G43
  • RAM
    Corsair 4GB Single Module 1600MHz CL9 DDR3
  • GPU
    GV-R928XOC-3GD/ R9280X
  • Case
    CM Force 500 Black
  • Storage
    WD 1TB Blue
  • PSU
    EVGA Supernova G2 750w

Before anything, I cant run the BSOD cmd perfmon as I can only boot the computer in safe mode and it wont work, I did run the Sysnative BSOD Dump + System File Collection App but my google drive is a POS atm so I can't use it.

Okay so when using my computer about a week ago the screen started to screw up then just showed this white screen with vertical lines, but was still playing the sound from the youtube video. I couldn't do anything so I turned off the comp via holding down the power button. When I booted the PC back up I still could only see the lines. I then took out the Graphics Card and put it back in and then it boots but BSOD's on login and it has weird lines in places before that. I can run in safe mode but everything looks odd, not sure whether thats just what safe mode is. Haven't reinstalled drivers but I did do a system restore. I'm thinking it is probably the GPU(please don't be bricked), but I'm basically John Snow so your thoughts will help a lot. Will upload some photos shortly.

Check the BIOS revision of the motherboard as it may not properly support the CPU.

Does your motherboard support internal graphics? If so, try that out.

Pretty much every 1150 socket board has support for integrated graphics on the CPU.

looks like a GPU failure to me, as Minzo says, try using the onboard graphics to isolate GU issues.

Without the dump files, we can't know exactly what is going on, but from the picture you posted it seems as if there is a graphics issue.

Did you have the GPU overclocked at all?

It might not be a dead GPU, it could also be some faulty driver. Since you have an 280x, try reinstalling the latest AMD GPU drivers while in safe mode. When you reboot normally, are the lines still there?
