A representative from Valve has announced that the company will remove Steam Workshop's controversial paid mods functionality

In a post today, Valve employee Alden Kroll confirmed that the functionality will be removed

Its interesting that Valve was so quick to respond to the Petition about removing the paid mod functionality and that their reaction was to remove it entirely. I am very interested to see where this will go towards the future of modding as well as the gaming and developer community as well as how it will affect how other companies who were considering this kind of functionality and where it will go from there.

With Beths permission my ass. Valve needs to stop spinning this shit as if they were innocent in this.

They willingly agreed to this and even had Gabe do PR spinning nonsense on Reddit to get people to get over it.

You don't walk away from this shit Valve. Its a mark on your company. People won't forget. Then again, the fanboys might just start swallowing whatever future bullshit you say, such is the fickle nature of the internet.
