Audioengine: A5+ or A2

Go to solution Solved by Elbstrand,

I am happy to hear that from you^^ I am tired of that overpowered bass punshes, just looking out for a nice pair of 2.0 speakers. Audioengines seem pretty good to me:) still not sure whats best for me though, a2 or a5+

Edited in a PS in my previous post ;)

On Topic: Well i think you want something bigger for woofers (tieftöner) then what the A2 got to offer. 7cm / 2.75inch isn't really going to do bass / deep vocals really well...

Hi,

I'm not quite sure if it would be worth to step up from 179€ for the A2 to 369€ for the A5+ :/

Does anyone have experience with one of those speakers and if she or he could tell me about theirs.

My personal expectations are having natural and the special kind of brilliant audio, tight and present but not overkill bass (I live in an apartment, my neighbors hate my Logitech Z623), and playing well on moderate to mid high volume -> again, I do live in an aparment and I am definitely not planing to use them speakers for weekend partys.

To be clear: Is the A5+ only an upgrade in terms of volume and a little deeper frequencies or also more natural and just more brilliant audio?

Thanks for helping out!:)

PS: My sound card is recon3D champion series, but I will push it the the next lvl - STX;) cuz also using PC350 SE

Judging from the specs, the A5+ should be alot more capable.

Edit// My Nubert nuPro A20 have slightly large "woofer" 5.9 vs 5 inch and go somewhat deeper (39 – 22.000 Hz vs 50– 22.000 Hz).  Also i dont know about the build quality, but well they cost about twice as much.

But they should perform somewhat in the same range. And i got to say i love my studio monitors/ stereo setup. Something like a Logitech Z623 sound like 10$ speakers against that.

PS. Achja willkommen im Forum, seh gerade du bist ja auch aus Deutschland :D

You could always go P4's and a lepai amp instead of the A5+.

right in the middle price wise and it should perform right up there with the A5's

Will work for electronic components and parts

https://www.massdrop.com/buy/audioengine-a5plus

act now and get it at a price drop

I don't think that will help him, since he is from germany like me and shipping is something ridiculous like 100 dollars.

I own a set of Audioengine A5+ in white and believe me they sound amazing.  I switched from a set of Bose 2.1 pc speakers and was a little worried at first whether the Audioengines would have enough base to replace my Bose sub, these things have incredible base, not only that, it is clear and defined, not like the muffled muddiness you get from a lot of 2.1 sets.  I am a big music fan and the clarity of these speakers is awesome, I also own a Denon system in my living room which was my main music system, since getting these speakers I play all  my music through my pc now.  If you like gaming they wont let you down there either, Battlefield 3 comes to life with the Audioengines.  The only downside I found is as I am in the uk they only came with a 12 month warranty, I'm not sure about Germany but I do know that in the US its a 3 year warranty.  A little unfair really  as its the same product, anyway I took out a extended warranty through square trade as I really don't want these speakers to break down on me.  Compared to the A2's which also seem to get good reviews I think there must be a fair amount of difference in the sound quality as well as the volume.  If you are unsure just order them and try them but really im sure once you have heard them you wont want to send them back.  I originally ordered a Black set but they showed figure marks really easy so I exchanged them for a set in white which look  in my opinion a lot more expensive and they don't show any marks at all.   Hope this helps
