My Current Plan For Internet is from Time Warner Cable and I pay $75 for a plan with 50mbps Download and 5Mbps upload

Is this great for gaming and downloading files? or should I just get a different company? will getting a different modem make it any better?

Help me out guys.

Where are you located? I live in butt-f*ck nowhere, so I can't really help you..

I'm sure you could get better internet from Shaw or something, but your current plan is good value.

I am with Cogeco Cable with 55 MB download and 10 MB upload, I have unlimited usage and I pay $65 after taxes including a house phone. I can download on steam with a steady 6 MBs and torrent up to 10 MBs.

We dont have your exact address, so we cannot tell you what you can get that is better.

$75 for that internet is pretty average. I would say it's probably the best you can get just by guessing. As soon as something better comes along, time warner will provide faster speeds. At that point, then yes, you will need a newer modem (if yours is not DOCSIS 3.0 compatible).

I had 50/5 for that $70-75 month. Then Centurylink and Google fiber started coming, and now they (for free) upped my internet to 100/10 for the same price.

I use the modem that comes with a built in wifi which uses only 100mbps

To me sounds like you didn't speak with your parents yet. Long story short, your internet speed if good. Unless you want to waste money on getting a better speed you don't need to do anything. But since your budget is "irrelevant" you could look up 3 providers, Verzion, Google Fiber and AT&T. Go to their site enter your address and see what they will offer you.
