I plan on buying a reference R9 290 but the problem is that it doesn't support analog signal whatsoever, now i know this may seem weird, why are you buying a high end graphics card when you still have a vga monitor, well my monitor works just fine and i still don't have the money to buy a new one, so don't tell me to get a new monitor, i will but not now. My priority now is a new gpu since my old 660 ti is really getting annoying

So the R9 290 has two DVI-D ports, on my old 660 Ti it has one DVI-I and one DVI-D. I plug my vga cable into the DVI-I to VGA adaptor and it works flawlessly, of course it does as DVI-I supports both analog and digital signal

But on the 290 all the dvi ports are of the digital type, so i won't be using my old adaptor on it as it won't even physically fit.

Idk if it is even possible to use 290 on a vga monitor?

I'm thinking of buying an active hdmi to vga adaptor, or dvi-d to vga, or display port to vga, idk which is better,

A DVI to VGA adapter often comes with the GPU but it's cheap to buy if it doesnt come with one.

But PLEASE! Don't buy a refference 290!

It's hot as hell!

Dude... The one that often comes out of the box is DVI-I to VGA. The 290 doesn't have DVI-I, you can't just use a cheap DVI-D to VGA adaptor like you can on DVI-I.

DVI-D is digital only, DVI-I is both digital and analog.
