Looking for a small upgrade

Go to solution Solved by TheSLSAMG,

Your CPU in some respects is better than a G3258 and in others worse.

I wouldn't bother with it unless you buy an i3. That would be an actual upgrade from what you're running now. Though your board does support 8GB RAM, so I would suggest you get a 2x4GB kit first and see if it helps.

I was wondering whether I should get an SSD + 8GB RAM for like 190$ or get an AMD FX 6300 and a new motherboard to support that for like 210$ or something.

Current specs:

RAM: 2x2GB Dual channel 1600MHz (timings: 9-9-9-28)
GPU: nVidia GTX 750TI Gigabyte Windforce 2GB etc.
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 3.2GHz (unlocked from II X2 555)
HDD: SAMSUNG HD502HJ 500GB 16MB cache
Motherboard: ASRock N68 S3 UCC (Only has SATA2 ports and a maximum of 8192MB RAM memory supported; two DDR3 slots)

Now, I feel like I would need more RAM since sometimes only having Chrome open with a stream on would get me to like 3GB of RAM memory used, and the SSD is just there since I want one for a while and I just hear they're really good but then again, I feel like my motherboard is really old and plus, the FX 6300's specifications seem much better than my current CPU but I'm not really sold on it.
I also hear good things about Intel's Pentium G3250, it has a much newer technology than my current CPU but only has 2 cores, do you think I should consider this CPU plus a 1150 socket motherboard and maybe even squeeze in some RAM in there? Although I think even my current CPU is kinda better than the G3250.

As someone with an FX 6300... I would recommend getting the RAM and SSD.

Save your money until you can at least afford an FX 8350/8370, or just save more and switch to Intel.
