So I made an arcade stick...

Hey everyone. I'm trying to be active on the forum but wasn't sure what to say, so I figured I'd just throw a couple pics of my "xbox arcade stick" build (you'll see the irony in the name in a second). I've been wanting to get back into fighting games and needed a stick, so I started looking. I was originally going to get the Razer Atrox that Linus reviewed at CES (I think) but when I had issues ordering from their site and their customer service is horrible, so I decided to just build my own. After ordering parts, wire, and a couple tools (wire strippers and crimper) I needed to find a case.

This is what I came up with.

Playing around with button placement.

This is the controller I cannibalized for the pcb.

I'm not very good at soldering, but it works.

The final product. The best part imho is that the Eject button works as a start button, and the power button is the home button. Also the LED works to show it's plugged in.

Just finished it. I had ordered some new parts for another stick I'm building, but I decided to go ahead and install them on this stick because I liked them so much.

"The Link" JLF Quick disconnect.

And I installed my usb pass through so I can disconnect and reconnect the cable.

Total cost of this, with all the mods, was 160. I got "The link" for 23 shipped used on the SRK boards and the Xbox case itself was free as I had it lying around the house. I also have an octogate installed, which I think improves accuracy by 100% for me. With the stock square gate I had issues pulling off combos because the timing made it difficult to fully move the stick into the right position. Now I have no issues.

looks great the only thing I would be worried about is that it looks way too light as its just a plastic shell.

It is light but it's not too bad. Its big enough that the weight doesn't really matter. I thought about putting some weights in it but never got around to it.
