Just a quick simple question, I will be using a HAF 935 very soon for an "ultimate" watercooling build, and i want to be able to use my MCP655 pump in the build. The problem is that the 935 has such a big window that its going to be very difficult to hide the pump out of view. My question is about painting it. It should be fine for me to pain it right? As long as i keep the paint out of the inlet and outlet, right? is there anything that i should worry about with painting it? or can i paint it all and not have too many issues?

Collecting every single CPU in existence? Is it possible? I have no idea, but i'm sure gonna try! http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/341848-dont-throw-away-old-cpus-im-collecting/

You could use a pump top ?

Painting should be fine , to be shure I would remove the pump from it's housing to paint .

I dont want to combine the reservoir and pump, for a couple of reasons. For one i already ahve a reservoir and pump that i want to use, and second, i think its ugly, but thats just a personal opinion :P and yeah, i think removing it from its housing would probobly be a good idea..

Pump tops are not always meant to be attached directly to the res, some of them are just pump cases that make the thing look prettier.

For example this is a bitspower modkit for the MCP655 http://www.frozencpu.com/products/24141/ex-pmp-310/Bitspower_D5_MCP655_Pump_Mod_Kit_-_White_BP-D5MA-WH.html?tl=g30c107s1805#blank

I've thought about painting mine. I would probably go with plasti-dip becasue that way it would be removeable in the future if you wanted.

Yeah i was thinking somthing along the lines of plastidip for that exact reason

Also, if i replace just the top ill be okay right? i dont have to replace the bottom as well? i like the bottom that is already on the pump, plus the bottom is an extra 50 bucks :/

Also im planning on getting the variable speed version, do those tops you linked work with the variable speed version?

Yes, there are standalone tops, like this http://www.frozencpu.com/products/17441/ex-pmp-210/XSPC_Laing_D5_MCP655_POM_Replacement_Top.html they are neat as you can easily mount the pump with the included hardware.

I'd still go for the whole kit, even if it's more expensive it looks way better and comes in many different colors and finishes.

The variable speed version does work with these as well.

No, what I meant is that both versions work fine on this enclosure.

Variable speed versions have a knob to control speed (settings 1-5), and its on the back of the unit. Full enclosures, as well as pump tops have a little hole for you to place a screwdriver and adjust the speed.

If you can afford it, get the variable speed version, why? Because the highest setting is always audible, but it comes pretty handy when you want to kill air bubbles fast. It allows you to control the pump easily and find the setting that gets you good temps and good acoustics, and at when you build the system, you can use the max speed to get rid of the air pockets easily.
