So a few people on various forums are reporting that when opening up GPU-Z when the monitor is set to 144Hz has this weird flicker which is an early sign it will fail, It doesn't happen at any other refresh rate though, Example here, Ignore the bottom of the videos funky colours this wasn't filmed by me it's someone else's video just using it as an example.

Are you connected DVI, HDMI or DP? GPU-z WILL disrupt input signals as it tries to detect hardware. If it's only GPU-z its just the GPU derping because its being scanned.

I'm connected via DP as it's the only connection on the monitor but I just asked someone else to test theirs and the said this didn't happen on theirs :(

Happens to me when I do extreme benching, what OC are you running on your card?

If you aren't running a OC it could be a memory module on the card and that'd suck.

You sir just saved me from going ape sh**, Turns out it's my overclock on my 980, I returned it to stock, Well a little under stock and the problem has gone away.

Strange it only happens when I open GPU-Z.

Yeah, it's probably memory controller related. :P

Well I underclocked the 980's memory to 6GHZ but left the core at 1500 and the problem completely went away but what's really interesting is that a lot of the people seeing this odd flicker when opening GPU-Z are all on 900 series cards.

mine does the same thing. I have just ignored it because I only see when I open GPU-z or an overclocking software. Any kind of GPU monitoring software does it.

CPU: 3770K | Motherboard: Asus Maximus V Formula | GPU: GTX 1080Ti SLI | Ram: 16gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 | PSU: Corsair AX1200i | Storage: 2x Samsung 840 pros | Case: Corsair 650D | Cooler:  Corsair H100i with Noctus NF-F12 fans | Monitor: Asus ROG Swift PG278Q

Well turns out it's a faulty monitor, Today I turned it on after work and BOOM, Dead pixel and a few stuck pixels as well as more flickering.

Taking it back for a new one.

Asus really shit the bed with this monitor, Bad quality control doesn't even begin to cover it.
