Does Crossfire memory stack?

From what I read, if you have a 2GB card paired with a 1GB card, u will still have 1GB of total video memory because they do not stack and the more powerful card will be brought down by the inferior card.

 

I used to run 2 HD7770 1GB in Crossfire and based on the above theory I should have 1GB of video memory only. But in GTA V graphic settings, the memory threshold showed I have 2048MB of video memory, which means they stacked.

 

So, do Crossfire/SLI memory stack or not?

No it does not stack, this is a bug with gta v, it just multiplies the video memory by how many gpus you have in sli/crossfire. This includes the amount each setting uses as well as how much you have available.

For some reason in GTA V it shows all THE VRAM but it doesn't actually stack

Exactly. Just like more cores are developer dependent and look how long that took them to start to utilize.

As long as there's the "we go with the lowest common denominator" mentality then stuff like this will take a long time to be implemented.
