The Witcher Question
Hey, i wanna play the witcher 3, but i kinda wanna know whats going on when i play it and i dont wanna miss out on important stuff. I started playing the first witcher but its really dry. So my question is "Is playing the first two witchers worth the effort?" Do they get better? and am i gonna miss anything if i skip them?
"Is playing the first two witchers worth the effort?"
That depends. The first Witcher has an unintuitive combat system that's only okay once you get used to it. It has a really good story, and will tell you a lot about Geralt and the stories in the first witcher. If you want the full story experience, I recommend playing this first, but on easy so you don't have to worry about the combat system.
The Witcher 2 has a vastly improved combat system. On normal it can be extremely tough if you don't follow a few basic tips. If you follow some of the basic tips and strategies though (most can be found here), then you'll end up loving the combat system. Also, the story (imo) is better than TW1, so I don't see any real reason why you shouldn't at least play that one. TW3 however will probably give adequate recaps in the game to let you know what's going on, like in The Witcher 2.
Summary: You probably don't NEED to play the earlier Witcher games, but...
1) Play TW1 if you want an excellent storyline
2) Play TW2 unless you really don't want to for whatever reason.
