Yes you do need to DL and install them. I would update all the Net Framwork updates and all the other updates except the language packs.

So I just recently installed a legit copy of windows and after downloading the latest version of Net Framework I checked windows update and had a whopping 900+ updates available. Quite a few of them were previous versions of Net Framework, so my question is do I need to download them or is the latest version just a revision of the previous versions like I had imagined. I would quite like to keep any updates to a minimum as I've just updated to SSD so obviously there's size restrictions.
