I don't see the elitist argument, and often think of Zuckerburg as a introverted man who sometimes might just be a little hard to understand. Huh... The site itself doesn't seem that credible and more or less like a forum kind of news site. Sorry I couldn't be of more help

Yes it is begin funded by a business what did you think it was about? A business does things to make money, everything they do is to make money either in the short or long term.

The issue everyone is having is that Facebook is paying the local telecom/ISPs in India so that residents can access Facebook and offer sites that pay in for free.  In other words, Facebook and friends are paying the ISPs for the local users.  This means they don't have to pay, but only get to access the websites that paid in.

People are viewing this as Facebook and co bribing the local ISP to give their websites priority or something.  The thing most people are forgetting, is that these people have 2 options, no internet at all, or select sites that paid the local ISPs.  Everyone is trying to say that it is bad cause their view of the internet is being censored and restricted, which is only partly true.

Everyone mad about it is stuck in this ideal world where net neutrality is real and enforced by some benevolent ruler.  In the real world, these people have no options. They currently have nothing, because they are too poor.  No internet at all.  The option that Internet.org is bringing is free to them, but they only get to some of the internet.  This is not ideal, but it is good.  It is much better than before.  It is good because it will open their eyes to what is out there, it will allow them to see the world they are missing.  This will inspire desire and change at a local level over time.

i don't mind businesses making money, that's what they're after in the first place..it's the elitist-corrupt claim that is making everyone think twice about a "nice" move..

as a tech man himself, i would understand why Zuckerberg will be thought of being introverted or little hard to understand..lots of these billionaires are.lol

yes, and I am wondering if the reviews are purely in our shores or it does get into the west

right on, but the corruption claim would make anyone think twice, right?

well said, I couldn't even begin to think to explaining that myself.lol

it's a good point that they either have no internet or a few select internet (facebook)...i like the idea of bringing internet to poor parts of the world, but people are griping about Zuckerberg taking advantage of this and I think that's where people are divided..

a good move that will benefit only facebook/zuckerberg...IMO, i don't mind it..really...

the image there say's 2/3 of the world doesn't have internet, I don't think facebook is big enough yet to fully supply the entire world RIGHT NOW..

What do you mean? You know they are doing it to make money accept it and deal with it. No major corruption I can see.

yep. i was asking if any other news really points out to that claimed "corruption"..trying to filter out if the post was merely hatred for the Zuckerberg move
