Why 16Gb ram and such a large psu? Are you planning to sli? Why an i7 instead of an i5 for gaming?

Moving thread to New Builds and Planning--please post in the correct sub-forum in the future.

if you plan to do some type of professional work, or something related, that build is fine minus either a 500w or 750w power supply, depending if you want to SLI in the future or not.

if you only plan to game, get a 4690k and 8gb of ram, pick up another 970 or upgrade to a 980.

Current Desktop Build | 2200G | RX 580 4GB | 8GB RAM | CTRL | Logitech G Pro Wireless

Laptop | 2018 MBA 256/16GB | MX Master

Sorry for the confusion, I will also be planning to OC in the future and this build is for essentially everything (ie. Editing, Gaming, Watching Videos).

What kind of content are you editing? Programs being used?

(and what's with the Comic Sans?)

Photoshop will be used for photo editing with constant browsers open. I am planning to do a little of video editing in the future if I get the time.

Can you give some detail on the scale of your projects?

i5 4690K would be fine for light editing. Therefore if you are going hardcore editing and stuff like that, get an i7. If not, the different in game for both 4790K and 4690K is just about 1 fps that's all. Then the money saved here could be spend elsewhere, be it in your own life or into your build like getting a larger SSD.

Do you plan to SLI it? If not then the PSU is way too much even if you factor in OC.

Anyway, don't see a monitor here so could only assume you are doing all this stuff on 1080p. If that is the case, then no issue at all on your gpu.

Spoiler

Ideally editing HD photographs and making 1080p videos.

Alright. Were you planning to sli?

In the future, I'm planning to when I move.

Recommended edits: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/cs6mHx

Grabbing a second display for productivity wouldn't be a bad idea either.

I think I am going to go with this setup:

Linus Tech Tips crew strikes again!

What's with the cx500, WD Blue, and VS238H-P? They're more expensive and/or are worse than the Barracuda, 750B2 (or alternatively 500B1), and i2267Fw I had suggested.

Are they really? I was judging with the more price-better performance standard. I guess I'm wrong

More expensive doesn't mean better.
