Hi.

I'm going to build my new rig in a couple months and, shame on me for saying this, I know absolutely nothing about audio, I can speak about mobos, processors, graphics cards, airflow, water cooling for hours, but I know nothing about audio, all I do is plug my headphones, put them in my ears and play.

So.

I would love if someone could tell me at least the basics about it because, even if I google it, I don't know what to search for and usually end up with a wiki page full of obsolete connectors. I would also appreciate A LOT if you could give me some links on guides, videos, basics, or just resources in general.

Sorry if I'm too dumb but I had to start somewhere and I feel like this community is the best out there.

Thanks for your time c:

Well, audio obvoisly is sound waves that travel through a medium and when it reaches you creates a varying ammount of pitches, now with computers.... i dont know.... I'll have to follow this forum beucase i dont know either! But there is luck, i know that if the socket is gold that means itll last longer. The wierd abreviations on the back mean... "Mic." = Microphone "L Out" = Line out "L in" = Line in (media player, phone, ect...) "SS Out" Subwoofer Out "CS" = Center Speaker, and "RS Out" = rear speakers out. Keep in mind "SS Out" can also mean Side Speakers out too, depends on the motherboard.

Tip: If you have multiple speaker sets (only need 2) plug one into L Out and one into RS Out, or even CS Out too! It creates a good surround without headphones!

Best of luck :)

There's an FAQ in this forum subsection.

I was gonna say, MFW first post links to an external article instead of internal FAQ.
