Useful thing to replace ODD on laptop

arielmendz

Good morning, I would like to know what devices besides the usual hard drive caddy (http://goo.gl/MGfOYF) can I put in the open void generated by the absense of an ODD (Optical Disk Drive) in my laptop, maybe a sound card? extra usb 3.0 perhaps?

I doubt a sound card would work, but extra USB 3.0 ports would be possible but nobody makes SATA to USB 3 hard drive caddy connectors. You can connect a sata to usb 3 cable to the hdd caddy but you would need to make your own housing for the USB ports since nobody makes them.

Well, its a shame that nobody makes something interesting about that, its really a big space and you could put so many useful things in there if you don´t need an ODD.

Yeah but the only interface that's natively offered is SATA
